Gyan Khand is a spiritual retreat centre nestled in the Mayan jungle near Tulum, Mexico. Rooted in the Sikh concept of Gyan Khand, the realm of spiritual insight and wisdom, the retreat offers personalized experiences that blend ancient practices like Kundalini Yoga and Vedic astrology with modern coaching techniques. Their mission is to provide a sacred space for individuals to embark on transformative journeys toward self-realization.
The goal was to create a brand identity and digital presence that encapsulate Gyan Khand's essence, a harmonious blend of ancient wisdom and contemporary spiritual practices. The design needed to resonate with their target audience: individuals seeking deep, meaningful transformation, while reflecting the retreat's serene jungle setting and spiritual depth.
Logo Design
The logo is a spiral inspired by the physical bamboo structures, and different symbolisms:
Spiral: Represents the journey of spiritual growth and evolution, echoing the retreat's focus on inner transformation.
Triangle: Symbolizes balance and harmony, aligning with the retreat's aim to harmonize mind, body, and spirit.
Resonance: The spiral appears to be "resonating," conveying the idea of energy, vibration, and the awakening of consciousness.
Four variations of the logo were developed:
Primary Logo: Features the spiral symbol with the name Gyan Khand in Gardein (primary font) beneath it, accompanied by the tagline: LIFE . SACRED
Wordmark: The name Gyan Khand rendered in Gardein, with the G stylized as a spiral, linking back to the primary symbol.
Favicon: The spiral G from the wordmark, used as a standalone icon.
Simplified Symbol: The spiral symbol without accompanying text, for versatile applications.
Typography & Palette
Two typefaces were selected to balance tradition and modernity: Gardein: A curvy and organic serif font that conveys elegance and a sense of the sacred, used for headings and the logo. Articulat CF: A clean, sans-serif font that ensures readability and a contemporary feel as well as balancing the primary font, used for body text.
The colour palette was intentionally chosen to reflect the vibrancy, warmth, and sacredness at the heart of Gyan Khand’s mission. Coyote, an earthy brown, brings a grounding, natural quality that connects to the jungle landscape. Dark Spring Green evokes the richness of renewal and growth, tying in with the lush, regenerative environment of the retreat. Pearl offers softness and purity, balancing the palette with a sense of calm. Saffron brings a spiritual brilliance, often associated with enlightenment and sacred ritual. Finally, Tan adds warmth and approachability, making the overall aesthetic feel welcoming and alive.
Website & Instagram
A full multi-page website was designed to reflect the grounded, sacred, and calming energy of Gyan Khand. The site includes a Home page, About page, Contact page, and a detailed Offerings section with individual sub-pages for each service. Booking and inquiry tools were integrated to support a seamless user experience. Layout, typography, and colour choices were carefully tailored to create a sense of spaciousness and alignment, allowing visitors to connect with the brand’s essence from the very first scroll.
To establish Gyan Khand's online presence, nine initial Instagram posts were created, forming a cohesive and branded grid, along with the copy. Each post was designed to reflect the retreat's core values and visual identity, fostering engagement and community building.
